4 townhouses nestled amidst the suburban streets of Punchbowl, create a striking embodiment of modern architecture.
Clad in contemporary brick and metal, the townhouses combine traditional materials with modern aesthetics, reflecting the area’s heritage whilst embracing contemporary design. As you approach the property, the façade immediately catches the eye. The combination of white and black brickwork and sleek metal framing creates a visually captivating contrast.
The planning takes into consideration the neighbouring context and maximises the solar access to the dwellings.
On the northern face, large windows punctuate the façade, inviting ample natural light to flood the interior spaces to create a sense of openness while offering picturesque views of surrounding landscape.
The façade to the south is carefully considered to balance both privacy and functionality. By positioning the staircase and the bathrooms on the southern wall, openings and direct lines of sight into the habitable spaces are minimised, ensuring there is no adverse impact to the neighbouring properties.
Bold, geometric lines frame the entry and openings, highlighting the verticality and contemporary feel. White brick serves as the primary material, accented by black brick and metal cladding for visual interest and contrast. The mix of solid brick and lightweight metal creates a dynamic, modern façade that captures attention.
Initial Sketches
After reviewing the clients brief we were able to quickly develop the design for the 4 unit townhouse providing a well-balanced facade design and layout that worked well within it’s context.
Through a series of iterative sketches, the design for the townhouse was developed.
